Job Title: Group Account Director
Location: Ottawa-Gatineau (Hybrid: 2–3 days/week onsite)
The Role
We’re seeking a Group Account Director who is ready to take on a senior leader role for an agency client. You’ll be responsible for building, managing, and mentoring the accounts team while overseeing a diverse portfolio. You’ll serve as a strategic partner to clients ranging from unions and coalitions to non-profits and corporations.
We’re looking for someone with deep client service experience, team leadership skills, and a passion for politics, news, and public affairs.
This role is based in Ottawa, with hybrid flexibility (2–3 days onsite per week).
Key Responsibilities
Client Strategy & Leadership

Lead integrated campaigns across media, advocacy, creative, and brand strategy

Ensure high-quality execution across all deliverables and channels (earned, paid, digital, research)

Represent the agency during pitches, bringing credibility, insight, and sharp thinking to the table

Maintain discretion and trust with high-stakes, high-profile clients
Team Management & Growth

Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing remote account team across Canada with a clear focus on outcomes and ownership

Use dashboards to track account health, project value, and team performance

Drive a culture of accountability and excellence, while keeping the work fun and sustainable

Support the evolution of the team as our client expands in other regions across Canada
Business Development

Support strategic growth by identifying opportunities with existing clients and contributing expertise during pitches

Help instil a more structured, proactive approach to outbound prospecting

Collaborate with business development leads to pursue growth
Ideal Candidate Profile

8+ years of experience in an agency, consultancy, or client-facing strategic communications environment

Strong background in brand, media, and integrated campaign strategy

Comfortable working with policy-adjacent or advocacy-oriented clients

Experience managing teams (including remote staff) and driving performance through clear structures and coaching

Business-savvy with an understanding of account margins, utilization, and growth metrics

Adept at balancing competing timelines and priorities with calm and confidence
-
Highly discreet, client-centric, and proactive
-
Personally invested in current events, government, or Canadian politics
