This is a full-time 6+ month contract with the potential for an extension. The Art Director will oversee the creative direction of product photography, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand identity across all visual touchpoints. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing visually compelling and on-brand photoshoots that elevate the customer experience, engage audiences, and drive sales across multiple channels. This role requires a strong blend of creative vision, technical photography expertise, and the ability to collaborate across teams, including marketing, social media, eCommerce, and merchandising.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative vision for all product photography across digital (social, editorial, eCommerce) and physical (in-store, print) channels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure all photography aligns with the brand’s visual identity and enhances product storytelling.
  • Work closely with photographers, stylists, and production teams to ensure high-quality images that meet brand standards and resonate with the target audience.
  • Conceptualize and plan product photoshoots, from initial mood boards and creative concepts to final execution, ensuring all assets align with campaign goals and marketing objectives.
  • Direct on-set photoshoots, including styling, lighting, and composition, ensuring every detail is meticulously executed.
  • Oversee post-production editing and retouching, providing feedback to ensure the final images meet brand and quality expectations.
  • Develop clear, detailed product imagery that highlights key features and enhances online shopping experiences.
  • Produce visually engaging content that drives engagement and supports social media strategies.
  • Craft aspirational images that support brand storytelling in marketing campaigns, lookbooks, and digital publications.
  • Develop imagery for in-store displays and promotions, ensuring consistency across physical touchpoints.
  • Work closely with marketing, eCommerce, and social media teams to understand creative needs and objectives, ensuring all visual assets align with larger campaign goals.
  • Partner with the merchandising and product teams to ensure accurate and visually appealing representation of products in all photography.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and freelance photographers, ensuring their work meets the brand’s creative and quality standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in product photography, digital content creation, and retail marketing to continuously innovate and push creative boundaries.
  • Experiment with new techniques, styles, and technologies to keep the brand’s visuals fresh and competitive in the market.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to junior designers, stylists, and other creative team members.
  • Manage the workflow of photoshoots, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Review and approve all creative output related to product photography before it goes live across any channel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Photography, Art, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in art direction, with a focus on product photography, ideally within the retail, fashion, or eCommerce industries.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in leading product photoshoots and delivering creative, on-brand photography across multiple platforms. Social pieces are required.
  • Proven experience directing photoshoots for digital and retail channels, with a deep understanding of lighting, composition, and styling.
  • Excellent understanding of the unique creative needs of eCommerce, social media, editorial, and retail environments.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant creative tools.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present ideas and work cross-functionally.
  • Passion for storytelling through visual media and a strong attention to detail.

We look forward to hearing from you!
