Event Manager

This is an exciting 12+ month contract with one of the largest financial institutions in North America. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Events, the Event Manager will play a crucial role in creating and managing exceptional meetings and events. Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning and execution of various events, including national kick-offs, regional meetings, roadshows, educational conferences, multi-day meetings, and incentive travel

Take ownership of different event aspects, such as project management, budget management, creative ideation, website development, registration, communications, promotional materials, travel arrangements, gift selection, food and beverage management, seating plans, and more

Source, contract, and manage vendors, including destination management companies, venues, translation services, keynote speakers, graphic designers, and promotional item providers

Incorporate innovative ways to engage and interact with our audiences, creating memorable and enduring experiences

Collaborate with business partners to develop impactful agendas, key messages, and themes for events, leveraging your industry network to recommend engaging external speakers

Conduct research to recommend suitable hotel properties and conference facilities in North America

Ensure exceptional performance in operations, strategy, creative execution, and event effectiveness

Develop and manage detailed project schedules, milestone checkpoints, and marketing and communication strategies for all events

Adhere to company policies and industry best practices throughout the event planning processes, from pre-event to post-event activities

Manage event budgets, identify opportunities for cost savings, and handle financial administration tasks

Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, making processes more efficient while delivering high-quality results
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:

Strong relationship-building skills to collaborate with stakeholders and develop creative and innovative event experiences

A university degree or college diploma in a related field

3 or more years of experience leading or assisting with multi-faceted events, both virtually and in person

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Interpersonal, leadership, budget management, project management, and analytical skills

Excellent presentation, facilitation, and coaching abilities

Knowledge of industry-related contracts and terminology (e.g., hotels, venues, speakers, destination management companies)

Experience with marketing and communication strategies for virtual and in-person events

Innovative problem-solving abilities and adaptability to change and ambiguity

Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, and respect for business protocol

Self-motivation and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners

A drive for continuous improvement and willingness to challenge the status quo

Agency experience in a similar role, with in-depth complex budget management experience

Understanding of distribution channels and proficient knowledge of tax legislation applicable to meetings

Experience in meeting planning within the financial services industry
