Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Market and Segment Strategy Manager to play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives for our client in the energy industry. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Calgary, though our client is open to a TO-based candidate (remote) for the right individual. This person will support and optimize our client’s acquisition and growth strategies within Canada, while working cross-functionally with teams across Product, Marketing, Sales, IT, and Customer Management, to identify business opportunities and implement data-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Go-to-Market Strategy, Retail Optimization, and Product teams to shape and execute strategies that enhance customer acquisition, retention, and growth in Canada’s deregulated market.
  • Identify opportunities within existing and emerging customer segments, refining strategies to optimize their effectiveness across various channels.
  • Use data analysis to identify and define business challenges, developing actionable insights and strategies that support acquisition and market expansion.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and market trends to proactively identify growth opportunities and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Customer Management teams to ensure alignment and integration of market and segment strategies.
  • Support Retail Optimization initiatives by delivering insights that contribute to revenue growth and cost efficiency.
  • Regularly evaluate and report on the effectiveness of strategic initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and adjusting strategies to optimize outcomes.
  • Develop business cases for new segment strategies or market entry opportunities, presenting findings to stakeholders with clear, data-backed recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development of new customer segments and explore emerging market channels, evaluating their potential to drive growth
  • Collaborate with team members to support go-to-market plans for new initiatives, ensuring they align with broader company objectives.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in strategy, market segmentation, or similar roles
  • Proven experience working on cross-functional initiatives and managing complex projects.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Excel. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and deliver data-backed solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex insights to c-suite stakeholders clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field. 
  • MBA or graduate degree preferred.
