About the Role

Our client in the financial sector is seeking an experienced Marketing Automation Specialist (Salesforce Marketing Cloud) to support their growing marketing automation initiatives. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with a deep understanding of digital marketing, helping deliver high-quality, data-driven campaigns across multiple channels. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated environment and enjoys blending hands-on coding with marketing operations strategy.


What You’ll Do

Marketing Automation & Development

  • Build, test, and deploy campaigns within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, leveraging Journey Builder, Automation Studio, and Contact Builder; familiarity with Advertising Studio is a plus.

  • Write and optimize HTML email code and use AMPScript (or equivalent scripting) to deliver dynamic, personalized experiences.

  • Support end-to-end campaign execution, from intake to deployment, working closely with technical leads and project managers.

  • Configure data integrations that connect Salesforce Marketing Cloud with external systems to support multi-channel journeys (email, direct mail, display advertising, etc.).

  • Develop and run QA and testing processes to ensure flawless deployments, segmentation accuracy, and compliance with brand standards.

Operations & Delivery

  • Maintain documentation, processes, and operating standards aligned with enterprise best practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve deliverability, data, and coding issues quickly and effectively.

  • Monitor schedules and project timelines to ensure campaigns are delivered on time and without error.

  • Provide timely updates to stakeholders and escalate risks when required.

Compliance & Customer Experience

  • Ensure all communications adhere to brand, privacy, and information security requirements.

  • Monitor performance indicators such as unsubscribe and bounce rates, and maintain compliance with legislation (CASL, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, PIPEDA).

  • Stay informed on governance standards and industry regulations that impact email and digital communications.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Deliver post-campaign analysis and reporting, identifying opportunities for optimization.

  • Track engagement metrics and provide actionable recommendations.

  • Share insights on trends and best practices to improve campaign effectiveness.

Data & CRM Integration

  • Work with CRM and marketing teams to automate and streamline data flows between databases and SFMC.

  • Leverage SQL (preferred) for data queries, segmentation, and reporting.

Risk & Quality Management

  • Act as a subject matter expert for journey mapping and campaign deployment effectiveness.

  • Proactively identify gaps or risks in workflows and propose solutions.

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure a controlled, efficient, and scalable automation environment.


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Marketing Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3–5+ years of professional experience as an email/marketing automation developer, ideally with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Hands-on knowledge of Journey Builder, Automation Studio, AMPScript, and HTML email coding.

  • Familiarity with SQL and data integration is a strong asset.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into business language.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., financial services, healthcare) is advantageous.

  • Previous leadership or mentorship experience is a plus.
