The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Senior Director of Communications to lead both internal and external communications at a pivotal moment in our client’s transformation. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned communicator who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution, and who can partner closely with executive leadership to shape how the organization tells its story.

You’ll have the chance to build and shape a lean team, establish new processes, and influence how our client communicates as they expand into new lines of business. The role is ideal for someone who can balance thought leadership with hands-on delivery, while operating with calmness, clarity, and executive presence.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Partnership

  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO, providing guidance, respectfully challenging thinking, and ensuring messaging is sharp and effective.

  • Support executive leadership with communications strategy, presentations, and key messaging for internal and external audiences.

Communications Leadership (60% external / 40% internal)

  • Drive external communications to strengthen brand perception, share positive stories, and manage crisis communications.

  • Oversee internal communications in partnership with HR, editorial, and business units to align staff and address sensitive issues.

  • Develop and deliver communications plans that balance strategic direction with tactical execution.

Execution & Delivery

  • Roll up your sleeves to create high-quality content across multiple formats: executive presentations, video, email, infographics, social media, and evolving digital platforms.

  • Ensure consistency in brand, compliance, and tone across all channels.

  • Partner with external agencies while also acting as an individual contributor where needed.

Transformation & Growth

  • Communicate and support the company’s ongoing digital transformation, while maintaining and modernizing legacy operations.

Who You Are

  • Executive presence: Calm, confident, and able to inspire trust at the highest levels.

  • Proven experience leading both internal and external communications, ideally in large or national organizations.

  • Crisis management expertise with the ability to navigate sensitive issues effectively.

  • Hands-on communicator comfortable producing content across multiple formats and channels.

  • Collaborative leader experienced in mentoring talent and building small, high-performing teams.

  • Strategic thinker with curiosity, structure, and the ability to connect brand storytelling with business priorities.

Why Join

  • Impact: Direct line to the CEO and executive team, shaping how the organization communicates with the market, employees, and the public.

  • Transformation: Join at a moment of evolution as our client expands into new lines of business and modernize legacy operations.

  • Culture: A genuinely collaborative, welcoming, and positive team.

  • Growth: Opportunity to build and shape a lean communications team over time.

We look forward to hearing from you.
